JAUME I, AMIC I AMAT

“Jaume I, amic i amat” presents the historical figure of the Conqueror King from the point of view of the women in his life. Starting with his mother, all the women who played a significant role in the life of the monarch are brought to the stage, both those who were blessed by the church through marriage and those who were considered lovers. A wide variety of opinions help us to humanize the figure of a king of enormous historical importance and his immensely interesting and eventful life. Medieval music and the poetry of the troubadours accompany us on this journey to discover our cultural roots. We have drunk deeply of both classical and popular music of the time, mixing it with the prose and emotions which identify us as a nation.

This show has been commissioned by the Medieval Festival of Elx, which is one of the better known European festivals. The piece will be presented together with the programme from the rest of the invited companies and represents the professional and creative dialogue between artists from Elx and those from the rest of Valencia.

Once premiered in Elx, “Jaume I amic i amat” will go on tour as part of the projection of the Elx Medieval Fair.
